* FINAL VERSION - Concurred
Resolution:D094
Title:Young Adult Representation on Legislative Committees
Topic:General Convention
Committee:06 - Structure
House of Initial Action:Deputies
Proposer:Mr. Samuel Gould

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 76th General Convention encourage the President of the House of Deputies to make every effort to appoint willing deputies under the age of 30, regardless of prior experience, to legislative committees and CCAB's of the General Convention.

EXPLANATION

In 1997 the 72nd General Convention committed to the inclusion of young adults in leadership roles at every level of the church. In this General Convention only 5 of 25 deputies under the age of 30 have been placed on legislative committees. Given that deputies under the age of 30 bring a unique perspective it is important to include their voices on the committees where legislation is being crafted. If we wait to include them in this process until they are more experienced, their youthful voices will be lost.
